Abstract
In this special edition of the Acta de Otorrinolaringología y Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello journal, we celebrate a significant milestone in the consolidation of medical knowledge in our specialty: the presentation of the Clinical Guidelines of the Colombian Association of Otolaryngology (ACORL). This project has been made possible thanks to the outstanding participation of Colombian residency programs, which, in collaboration with specialist physicians, epidemiologists, and expert reviewers across all areas of otolaryngology, have developed these guidelines as a key tool to optimize the care of our patients.
We deeply appreciate the effort and dedication of everyone involved in this collective work, which reflects an invaluable commitment to academic and clinical excellence. Most of these guidelines are published in this edition, and a new update is already being prepared to be presented in one of the upcoming issues of our journal.
It is important to highlight that this year also marks a significant renewal for our journal, with the incorporation of a new editorial committee and the creation of advisory committees at both the national and international levels. These committees are composed of distinguished leaders in the field, who will contribute to further elevating the academic and scientific level of our publications. This strengthens the vision and mission of this journal as a leader in the field of otolaryngology.
We extend our sincerest appreciation to both the outgoing and incoming ACORL boards of directors and, especially, to the presidents who have led these terms, as they have facilitated the completion of this work and prioritized the implementation of these guidelines, which will become an essential foundation for the comprehensive care of our patients.
With this edition, we close a year filled with learning and progress, and we welcome 2025, which will bring new opportunities to continue positioning our journal. Important changes will be implemented in the coming year, such as the inclusion of articles in English, the publication of international works, and progress in international indexing processes, which will strengthen our position as a high-quality academic reference in the field of otolaryngology.
Finally, we wish our readers, authors, reviewers, and our entire academic community a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May 2025 be an opportunity for us to continue growing together in knowledge and in service to our patients.
