About the Journal
Focus and scope
The purpose of Acta de Otorrinolaringología & Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello is to disseminate and publish up-to-date scientific information in all fields related to the specialty of otorhinolaryngology, including sleep respiratory disorders, diseases of the upper airways, allergies, rhinology, otology, otoneurology, laryngology, bronchoesophagology, pediatric otorhinolaryngology, craniofacial surgery, skull base surgery, maxillofacial surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, head and neck surgery, head and neck oncology, and phoniatrics. It is the official publication of the Colombian Association of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, Maxillofacial and Facial Aesthetics (ACORL). The journal is aimed at health professionals, especially those interested in otorhinolaryngology and its related areas of expertise.
Acta de Otorrinolaringología & Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello is published quarterly — four times a year, in March, June, September, and December. In addition, supplements are published in the same format, covering specific topics related to the field of otorhinolaryngology. The journal is indexed in the National Bibliographic Index – Publindex and LILACS. It is available in both print and electronic formats through the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform, accessible at http://revista.acorl.org/.
Peer review process
All material submitted for publication in Acta de Otorrinolaringología & Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello is subject to review and consideration by the Editorial Committee and by scientific peer reviewers.
The journal guarantees that all manuscripts received are treated with strict confidentiality throughout the editorial review and evaluation process.
Once the submission requirements are met, the manuscript is assigned to an editor who determines its eligibility for publication. Within eight (8) business days thereafter, approved articles are sent to peer reviewers for evaluation.
The journal uses a double-blind review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
Reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise, research experience, and professional practice, as demonstrated by their publication record and field of work. Each manuscript is evaluated by two reviewers who assess its statistical, methodological, and scientific quality.

Publication Fees
Acta de Otorrinolaringología & Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello adheres to an open-access policy. The journal does not charge any fees for submission, review, or publication of articles. All content is freely available on our web platform.
